Origins
Insta Foods had modest beginnings starting out as Vin Flavors almost four decades back in 1978. The founder of Vin Flavors – Praful Vin – worked at a very senior technical position at The Coca Cola Export Corporation, New Delhi where he was responsible for Quality Assurance, Product Development and Bottling Operations. When, Coca Cola was asked to leave India in 1978, most of the Coca Cola bottlers were left without a concentrate supplier. A tripartite arrangement was worked out between Modern Bakeries – A Govt of India Undertaking for marketing of a new beverage, few of the ex -Coca Cola bottlers for bottling and distribution operations and Praful Vin who would start Vin Flavors to manufacture and supply the concentrate. Vin Flavors thus had humble beginning with a lot of technical know how, scare funds, a rented premise and a big dream !!
Rough Initial Years
As India’s political winds changed, the arrangement with the government that we started out with fell through. As a result, we were forced to find new customers and backward integrate to develop new products in order to survive. The initial years saw lots of highs and lows. Vin Flavors changed directions from being a concentrate manufacturer to focus on core flavor manufacturing. In the mid 90’s we ventured into manufacturing of encapsulated flavors by spray drying and were the fourth company in India to do so. This started off our journey into the development and manufacture of Powder Instant Drinks. Insta Foods was thus born in 1991 to manufacture Powder Instant Drinks and was the exclusive supplier of powder drink / powder drink base to Rasna – one of India’s largest beverage companies.
The Last Decade and Amalgamation
The last decade has seen a significant ramp up in our installed capacities to manufacture encapsulated flavors and other spray dried ingredients that are used to make powder drinks and today we have one of the largest installed capacities for manufacture of such products in India. Using our core expertise and experience in the field of spray drying, Insta Foods has indigenously developed a range of Spray Dried Ingredients serving a wide range of applications and industries.
We are now a fully integrated operation manufacturing flavors, spray dried ingredients and a wide range of cold and hot powder beverages under one roof. Our flavors and food ingredients are used by some of India’s leading food, beverage and pharmaceutical companies. Our powder beverages are sold under private label to some of India’s largest retail chains and consumer product companies and exported to leading retail chains, importers and FMCG companies in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
The Road Ahead
Since summer of 2015, Insta Foods has entered into the consumer goods market under its own brand names with a range of unique and innovative products meant for mass market consumption.
Insta Foods aims at becoming one of the leading and most dependable suppliers of flavors, spray dried food Ingredients and finished products that match global standards. And to remain true to the core ethics, values and business policies imbibed in us by our founder.
